Home IMPORTANT NOTICE: The Muskoka Jazz Jam is moving to Thurssday nights, starting June 16, 2009 - no jazz on the 15th! Welcome to the website for the Muskoka Jazz Jam. The MJJ happens every Thursday from 7-10 pm at The Hideaway Pub in downtown Huntsville. It's a very accessible evening, a nice space and some great playing from local jazz musicians. We're also making a BIG change in the food/beverage department.... The BISTRO ON MAIN has opened, serving fresh food on the outdoor sidewalk cafe in front of the Hideaway. By special arrangement with the Bistro, they will be keeping the kitchen open until 8 pm on Thursdays. This means you can get rockin' food with your jazz. What's Been Happening (July 10, 2009) Hard to believe an entire year has past since my last update - SORRY, The good news is we've got a ridiculously good rhthym section: Tim Sullivan on piano, Jame Bestwick on bass and Richard Jackson on drums. Our previous drummer, Joel Rendall, is jumping on a cruise ship at the end of this month. "Thanks, dude. We'll miss you". Glen Morgan, the local guitar teacher, is coming out every week and his discipline and restraint are amazing. He has come SO far in such a short time, it's amazing.! (July 16, 2008) For the past several weeks we have had a complete rhythm section: Tim Sullivan on piano, Bruce Rumble on bass and Joel Rendall playing very fine drums. Most nights we get a couple of sax players (many thanks to the talented and frogressing Kim Barlow and Kathy Kilbourne) and the occasional bass player or drummer. (April 3, 2008) We had our first upright bass player out last night. Bruce Rumble came up from Barrie and did some FINE playing. With Bruce present, the Band-In-A-Box was given most of the night off - we tried it once with mixed results. Sandy McLennan brought his electric bass as well and got us through "Footprints" with a great sound. Check out these pix shot by Cheryl Stamper - thanks, gorgeous!
